Great breakdown, one additional wrinkle to maybe consider is that during the Clone Wars, there were at most maybe 10,000 Jedi in the entire order, and many were killed during that conflict. In a setting with millions of populated planets separated by lightyears...

It's pretty easy for me to imagine that the Jedi were at best folklore or trivia to a vast, vast majority of the population at the time, and that's before Palpatine's concerted effort to wipe out all trace of their history.

In our reality we can’t even keep track of what the govt does or who they employ. A galactic citizen won’t know shit about the Jedi, and is unlikely to ever meet them in their life. By this point in time I imagine even the Jedi truthers have given up.
-
The real question is why do people in the prequels actually seem to be so aware of the Jedi ?

Right?? 25ish years isn't a long time. Even if the empire destroyed all record of the jedi, people would still remember them well.

I don't want to be "that guy" but if you read the books it's explained that the Empire invested heavily in re-education on this subject.
