I'm only five minutes into the early 2000s TV miniseries adaptation of Dune and it's already leagues more understandable than the Lynch film. There's already a human element to it, an accessibility. Wow.

DVD is the only way to see it.

What it lacks in production value — I think they shot those desert scenes on a soundstage — it makes up for in narrative clarity for sure. It's much more faithful to the books and incorporates a lot of its character arcs.

Hell yeah! That mini series is a really good adaptation of the book. The sequel mini series "Children of Dune" was also really well done. It adapts the second and third novels.

Yeah, I got a special expanded edition dvd in 2003 that had the European cut which ran about 30 minutes longer. Really well done and faithful version. Low budget and stage bound but well written. Can’t wait for the new one.
