Ghostbusters, like RoboCop and Predator, only really worked the first time. Every sequel or reboot of those properties have all missed the mark in some way or another. Not every stone has an endless supply of blood in them, Hollywood.

I can’t wait for the heartcrushing final scene where he recounts a horrific event in his life that gave him PTSD, a scene that proves the whole movie‘s point about how bad we treat veterans, to be replaced by a super cool $5 million CGI explosion

Ghostbusters cartoon was fairly good since they had to come up with new bad guys each episode. The video game that came out about 10 years ago with the original cast is considered an unofficial sequel by a lot of fans and the plot could have worked for a third film.

Predators (2010) worked but then again it’s pretty much the first film with some slight changes.

I still love Ghostbusters 2. Saw it five times in theaters. That said, this statement is absolutely true. The law of diminishing returns is something Hollywood seems to scoff at.

I'd really like to have seen what Shane Black's Predator really could have been bc what we got seemed like a Frankenstein's monster of a mess of a movie. I get they're the ones footing the bill, but maybe the studios should interfere less & let the director see their vision thru.
