I’ve always been skeptical of those claims. Imagine cheering for 30 seconds straight. Try it. You’re exhausted. Now try 1 minute. Now do that for 8 minutes. Yeah, no.

I guess they count from the moment they start applauding after the films ends, while the filmmakers get up and slowly walk to the stage. I can see them standing up the whole time, but still applauding?

They last as long as the talent is in the theatre. Eventually embarrassment, exhaustion or the desire for a drink kicks in and the talent goes. Then the applause stops. So the measure is really, how long did the talent stick around?

I figured it was more likely that, the background noise while the talent get out of their seats and get to the stage for a Q&A or some shit
