  2. . Your question about going through a SYR winter without a major snow event is a good one but would involve some research. Although we have daily snowfall totals some events start one day and end the next. Also, what is 'major' 10"? 12"

  3. The weather pretty quiet the next few days in CNY then more active Thursday/Friday. A wintry mix goes to rain Thursday as we warm then colder Friday with snow. Still questions as to how much.

We are watching a bit of light snow at times for CNY over this weekend but we are also focused on a more active first week of February. Here are our initial thoughts:

Yikes! Syracuse is well below normal in snow in January and still blows by Oswego by almost 10"

Numbers are in for Syracuse this January....The cooler weather at the end month knocked us out of the Top Ten...we ended up 13th warmest January since 1902. 2002, 2006 and 2012 were warmer along with three years in the 1930s

For Syracuse 3 chances for a light accumulation of snow this weekend (Tr-1") One tonight, another Saturday night and the third Sunday afternoon. By Monday, however, we are back in the 40s.

On this day 54 years ago the Blizzard of '66 got cranked up in CNY. For many that experienced the storm, it is still the benchmark that all other storms here are measured by. Check out my story that ran on the 50th Anniversary.
