Paul Harvey refused to use their names in his reports so as not to give them notoriety. What you are doing, increases their notoriety. Good job, get some more kids killed

You won’t find me using names of mass shooters or any terrorists and I’m among many journalists working on best practices for reporting. I think coverage of this anniversary is going better than it would have without these new counterbalances but there’s still lots of work to do.
-
Yet you promote the acts on social media and in your reports while you are promoting you wont be doing it. Got ya. You build them up. Is it really worth another kid dying to get more emotion to support your anti gun sgenda?

I read your response several times and still don't understand your argument but my only agenda is violence prevention.

The more you write about it, the more it encourages the next one. Their name isnt as important then the act is. Keep writing about how your not going to mention their names. They know you will.
-
I share your concern with preventing harm but reporting is still essential to helping the public understand the problem and solutions. A growing number fo us are now (finally) working hard to figure out how best to do that without risking contagion and traumatizing survivors.

Absolutely awesome advice for any such tragedy. Sad that situation seems to have played out as it has, in Denver/Columbine area this week. Only in the US could this happen. And happen. And happen. And... :(

Thanks for flagging this.
