    Lexington’s Division of Waste Management employees came together to provide a little extra cheer for four families this holiday season. Employees collected over $1,000 over the past year so that they could provide food, toys and gifts for those in need.

    The city's Affordable Housing fund, along with other partner funds will help provide family housing to veterans, allowing them close access to VA supportive services and healthcare. Victory Points Apartments will be located on the Franklin R. Sousley VA Campus on Leestown Road.

    In Lexington, call 859-258-3600 to report receiving one of the threatening emails, or 911 if you believe to also have suspicious circumstances that necessitates an emergency response.

    Similar to many other communities, multiple bomb threats have been reported throughout Lexington. Preliminary investigation indicates these are email scams, however we are following up on each incident. All information gathered is being forwarded to the FBI.

    Judge Mike Pryor was a good friend who always made me feel welcome when I had the chance to visit Carlisle. He was the finest example of a public servant I’ve ever seen, selfless and committed to the public good. My sympathies to his family and the people of Nicholas County.

    The city has partnered with MetroNet to create METRO C.A.T.S., a gig-fueled after-school course for Lexington Traditional Magnet School students at the Charles Young Center. UK Engineering students will teach middle school students about digital literacy & computer programming.

    For the last 8 years, I've had the opportunity about once a month to stop in & visit with Lexington radio legend . There is no doubt that Jack loves Lexington, & there is no doubt that our city loves Jack. No one is more deserving of the Spirit of Lexington Award.

    President Bush was an American hero long before he served in the White House. He will be remembered for his many years of distinguished and dedicated public service. Our city joins the rest of the nation in mourning his passing.

    Everyone everywhere knows Coach Joe B. Hall. He's coached his teams to championships, been named National & SEC Coach of the Year, & even toured with the Harlem Globetrotters. Here in Lexington, we know him as a neighbor & friend. Happy 90th birthday to a legend & giant of a man.

    John “Bear” Coyle loved Woodford County and always had the best interest of its people in mind. He was a true leader who always remembered that he was in the people business. The city of Lexington remembers the people of Woodford County during this difficult time.
