  1. In addition to (high flood threat for TX /LA) and NEW area NHC has coming off Africa (which will be the one to watch next week as it moves west) another area may sneak up on us near Bahamas. GFS is more bullish, but something to keep an eye on. Hopefully won't materialize.

There were no clouds yesterday or this morning but the blue skies are gone. Photos at my house in Lincoln: sunset last evening & the smoky hazy white sky this morning. Forecast maps for mid-day today show total atmospheric smoke and near surface smoke from the western wildfires.

Japan's 🛰️ has been monitoring Super Typhoon over the Philippine Sea, seen here at ~10:00 a.m. local time. It's forecast to graze the Philippines before making landfall in Taiwan. Sustained winds are now ~165 mph, the equivalent of a Cat-5 Atlantic hurricane.

Meanwhile bouts of HEAVY RAIN and thunderstorms will plague most of the northeast i95 corridor for the day. Certainly enough to hamper clean up efforts in spots.

The new areas NHC has outlooked will need to be watched into next week in addition to another likely wave coming off Africa (pink). The area in the Bay of Campeche could easily hug the coast of Mexico and eventually impact coastal TX and LA with HEAVY RAIN by early to mid week!
