A new study shows that doctors applying to residency programs post-Dobbs are avoiding states with abortion bans.
Even worse, there was a decline in OBGYN residency applications *in general.*

Mace and a few other Republicans are out there acting like the voice of reason, when really all they're doing is slyly redefining the "middle ground" so that they can act as if they've compromised when they pass a ban with exceptions or deign to let us keep contraception

Check out what she said this weekend about finding a "middle ground":
"The vast majority of people want some sort of gestational limits...they want exceptions for rape & incest, they want women to have access to birth control."
Since when is access to birth control the middle??

You've probably seen South Carolina Rep. Nancy Mace has been making the media rounds calling out her colleagues' extremism on abortion, for example. Seems like a good idea on the surface, but there's something else going on

Something to keep an eye on when it comes to Republican messaging on abortion: They are working overtime to redefine what "the middle" is.

That’s why I am so over all the ‘middle ground’ shit. We have public support! The real issue is that a small group of extremist legislators are wielding a growing amount of power against the majority of voters they’re supposed to represent.

Two decades of use and over 100 studies show that mifepristone is overwhelmingly safe and effective. While the Supreme Court did the bare minimum right thing in temporarily safeguarding mifepristone, this should never have been brought before the courts.

I'll continue to fight attacks on women’s health. The American people must also continue to use their vote as their voice and elect a Congress that will restore the protections of Roe v Wade.

Next stop for the mifepristone case is the 5th Circuit who is all but certain to issue a positively batshit ruling.
The antis are going to force the Comstock Act issue before SCOTUS one way or another.

That's it. You literally don't need any other response to win.

Hi. Abortion is still legal and mifepristone is still available. Chaos, confusion, and misinformation are powerful tools anti-abortion extremists use to trick people out of abortion. Don’t hand them that power. You can still get an abortion at Whole Woman’s Health.

Good morning. Abortion can be self-managed with pills sourced in your community. 1 mifepristone pill followed by 4 misoprostol pills 24-48 hours later OR 12 miso pills dissolved 4 at a time under the tongue every 3 hours. You don’t need to tell police what you took if they ask.

Their new messaging is all about the false idea of ‘pain capable’ fetuses. But here’s the good news - the change is in part because they know Americans hate abortion bans, so reaching for language that won’t turn voters off (this ain’t it)

The anti-abortion movement is telling us where it’s headed next: Comstock. If Democrats were serious about protecting abortion access at all—at all—a bill to repeal Comstock would have been introduced last week and there’d be a full court press behind it.
