If you write to me, and I do not respond, there's a chance I mistook your email for academic spam. There's also a high chance I saw your email (on my phone), thought about responding, forgot to actually respond, and then forgot that I didn't actually respond. Please email again.https://twitter.com/causalinf/status/1143040494626365440 …

If you write me, and I do not respond, there’s actually a very high chance that I mistook your email for academic spam and it got deleted. So don’t feel bad about writing again. I always respond, but my mail clients are consumed with academic and normal spam. 1/n

I have thought about deleting my work email from my phone for this reason. If I have forgotten to respond it’s because I checked from my phone and held off replying bc I needed my computer.

Yup. Anything longer than a sentence or two is too frustrating to write on my phone. But I still think about the message. And then my brain thinks I've sent it.

It’s getting more difficult to tell whether emails are spam or not. I think predatory journals/conferences etc. are getting savvy.

Absolutely! Please bug me I say. I also send fairly regular group mails to my postgrads saying "you are working on X, and we have spoken about Y...if this is not true and I have forgotten something, please let me know ASAP. Seems to have helped too.
