When politicians use faith as an excuse to pass and uphold laws that seize control of people’s bodies but not guarantee them healthcare, feed the poor, shelter the homeless, or welcome the stranger, you have to wonder if it’s really about faith at all.

Jesus commands the PEOPLE to help the sick and poor. Jesus does not command the GOVERNMENT to help the sick and poor. Big difference.

So Jesus wants His people to help the poor and sick, *unless* His people work for the government - then its tax cuts for the rich and no healthcare if you have pre-existing conditions. Is that about right? Damn, I must have missed that lesson during Sunday School.

Many people do. Jesus says if you see a poor man be willing to give him the shirt off YOUR back. He doesn’t say make sure you give the government money to pay for a shirt for him.
