My parents didn’t have good dental coverage when I was a kid, so I never got sealants or expensive preventatives like that. Then I didn’t have dental coverage in my 20s and couldn’t afford cleanings for years.
Now I’ve had to get three root canals. 
Adults on medicaid don't get dental coverage at all. I just paid $210 for an extraction because I can't afford regular dental care.
My parents couldn’t afford to get any of my siblings and I braces (my siblings both have fucked up front teeth) so my dad just insisted that it’s not good to get them when you’re young bc your teeth will just move again— as a cover for the fact that we were broke
