It puts Dems on their heels and into defense mode rather than legislating from a position of power, which they hold in the House. The response should be to ignore his threats and lead on your own bill for the people.

When Mitch McConnell takes these hardline positions, he’s setting up the conversation to force concessions from the Democrats to protect states. He doesn’t even have to believe in it.
