You’re right. You see it in the way the owners refuse to offer safe conditions and hear it in how they talk about recruiting replacement workers. They’re saying essential, but they know they mean expendable.
The frontline workers we’ve heard from don’t want thanks. They want PPE, paid sick leave, wages that match the importance of their jobs, safe working conditions, hazard pay, and guaranteed healthcare.
