Why not offer to pay landlords or banks a subsidized rate? That way people stay in their houses and banks and landlords aren’t left holding the bag.
No one said there couldn't be compensation for rent or mortgages that aren't paid, Naveed. You started this conversation by saying creating a rewards system for charitable landlords would be better than a moratorium and that just isn't true.

I don’t even see how that could work, legally (would you seize the property, federalize it)? If there is no legal basis for the govt to compel them to do so, you’d be asking them to voluntarily do that? If so what is their incentive to do so?
