I mean, the smart landlords are looking to lower or discount rent. Why not encourage that? Telling an entire industry they cannot charge for a service they provide seems just silly.

Our government, for public health reasons, has quite literally already told entire industries they can't provide their services and make money. That is why so many people are unable to pay right now. This is no different.

Yes but you’re saying landlords have to provide a service free of charge — that’s not the same thing as a business closing bc it is not essential.
