I don’t know who needs to hear this, but opening up ACA enrollment to people who just lost their jobs so they can buy insurance plans with $8,000 deductibles isn’t going to solve anything.

It will solve everything for some people, but not for everyone. Should we not save 10,000 lives because we couldn't save 1,000,000?

My point is it’s more of the same stopgap measures we’ve see so far than it is a “solve.” It can’t be seen as the answer. People who rush to buy a plan they still can’t afford to use aren’t going to be protected from financial ruin if they get sick.

Why not support immediately reopening the exchange AND medicare for all? That's my position. Why pretend like those are two mutually exclusive choices when both are needed? Pitting these two ideas against each other does a disservice to both efforts.

The vast majority of people I’ve seen talking about ACA enrollment are the ones who won’t even consider M4A. I think we agree ACA is not a panacea. That’s my point.
