I went to business school in undergrad, and I'm currently working towards my MBA, and some classes/professors teach the philosophy that shareholders are more important than anything else. Not to the extreme of Milton Friedman, however, some students believe that as well.

I was one of the few people that always expressed we must put external shareholders (the environment, surrounding communities, etc.) before profits. Of course, I wasn't the only one, but the system is structured to influence students to pick greed over common sense.

Because you can’t pass anything without at least some GOP yes votes. Governing requires working with people you don’t like, like any job. That doesn’t mean you can’t also find them despicable. But for the greater good you have to.

Sure, but accepting the current situation not the *only* option! We have to believe better is possible and fight for it. Senators have an immensely powerful platform. As Senator, I would use it to engage voters and build political will up from the grassroots nationwide.
