Along with economists, and executives of oil, energy, and finance companies, @ChrisCoons’s climate caucus is listening to a group pushing a bill that creates a carbon fee but ENDS emissions regulations.
Oh, and it excludes fuels used by the US military.https://www.washingtonpost.com/climate-environment/the-fastest-way-to-cut-carbon-emissions-is-a-fee-and-a-rebate-top-leaders-say/2020/02/13/b63b766c-4cfc-11ea-bf44-f5043eb3918a_story.html …

Agreed. The government itself is one of the foremost polluters. It has to be included under these provisions. Would you support a carbon tax on natural gas too and then an increase investment for nuclear energy which is safer, cleaner and more reliable?

In sum: I think the bill needs some work but it’s a massive step in the right direction. It would dramatically cut emissions and incentivize a switch to cleaner sources of energy. And I think we’d have the votes for it in the Senate!https://www.aeaweb.org/articles?id=10.1257/pol.20170144 …
