This shooting happened about 10 blocks from my house, and it was the second shooting by police in this neighborhood in 2019.
In just the last year I’ve personally seen police abuse their power by harassing a black man waiting at the bus stop with me, responding with 3 SUVs to reports of a “suspicious black man” in my neighborhood, and arresting a man asking for money.
We need to completely demilitarize the equipment, mission, and mentality of our local police forces to end this brutality.
