When people can't pay their court costs, they face harsh punishments: suspended driver's licenses, arrest warrants, and even jail time. All this does is trap people in a cycle of debt & desperation. Our current system punishes people just for being poor. (2/4)

Suspending driver's licenses is ridiculous & self-defeating. How can we expect people to support their families — let alone pay debts — if we take away their ability to get to work? (3/4)

@WilmCityCouncil will vote on a resolution supporting the end of this regressive practice. It is one of several important steps needed to fix this broken system. We need to champion comprehensive court fines and fees reform in DE, and we need to do it now. (4/4)Show this thread
