I think it has to be good. Safety of the real world can be largely ensured if you take a Feynman, "there's plenty of room at the bottom" stance towards VR/XR. Yes, the metaverse rn is cringe, yes the tech has a long way to go until The Matrix.

A better AI makes fewer mistakes. A better AGI makes *more* mistakes. And corrects some of them by creative and critical thinking. Or by creatively seeking out interactions with the world and thinking about those. Or sometimes by creatively thinking about what other people say.

Mine: creating location-based virtual reality that tailors experience with biofeedback (heart rate, brain states, etc) plus 'glanding' psychotechs (think insulin pumps for dmt, lsd, hormones, etc.) on demand, in concert with unreal environments/worlds. + Solving aging.
Do you think? The rabbit holes wandered, the fallen trail, the fell tree in the path, the oaky and alpine scent. Thoughts that paint your poetic perception. Evoke, embed, sort out the void. Spread the gold across the seemingly impossible expanse.
