  1. When invention becomes art: This truly remarkable colour photo was taken 113 years ago by photographer & inventor Heinrich Kühn. Simply called "Playmates", it was taken in 1907 (the year the colour autochrome process was patented) & could easily be mistaken for an oil painting ♥️

  2. me as a kid: Writers are chosen by the Muse to channel perfect stories that are beamed, whole and flawless, directly into their brains. me now: Writers are obsessive creatives who've weaponized their anxiety and lack of sleep hygiene for profit.

  3. I'm pretty sure I'm more excited to work on the shoebox float for my kid's project than he is. BRING ON THE GLITTER AND MARIBOU FEATHERS BABY!

  4. Made it through the day with 4 hours of sleep. Anyone taking bets if I manage to stay up late enough to keep my revision going? 😂😂☕️☕️

  7. Historian’s pointer. I promise this was not at all staged 😂😂 I just looked down and she was napping in the book.

  8. My tendency to slip into the first person while drafting makes for some interesting third person POV chapters. But that's what editing is for.

When it comes to the juxtaposition of the magnificent amongst the squalid, this photo has it all - what an utterly amazing view from the slum gardens of Millwall - the 3-masted barque 'S.V. Penang' in dry dock at the Isle of Dogs in 1932

  13. Some people revise their first chapter a million times. Me? Me, I can never figure out the ending. *says the girl who just figured out a plot shift that will completely change the last 15k or so words of this WIP*

  15. I was walking home yesterday and I could have sworn I smelled a crawfish boil. But I was in a place there shouldn't be crawfish. And now I can't stop thinking about it 😩

  16. things like laundry or people in windows. Animals. Children. It's always interesting to see what's accidentally captured. Sometimes I think about people accidentally captured in these photos, long dead and gone but they had a name and a life that we can never know.

  17. re LRT: One of the things I love about old photos are things in the margins. Not necessarily the focal point. So the people at the edges, in the back. The tiny little details you might not notice at first. Sometimes with old street photography I'll zoom way in just to see.

30 January 1916. During an attack on Paris, Zeppelin LZ.49 was hit by French fire, struck a house and was damaged beyond repair in a forced landing near Ath.
