That is what annoys me a lot. Rabbis got uncontrolled power and can decide based on whatever they think is applicable who is Jew and who is not. Why they decide like that? Who knows? Maybe because of the weather around, their self-esteem or other reasons.

The main thing is missing in the article: Who presided in the rabbinical court in America that the rabbinate here considers unreliable?

Its not relevant, the Beth Din of America as an institution is supposed to be recognized as valid for the purposes of conversion, regardless of which of its rabbinical judges presided over a case.
