As a kid, I saw how bad bullying can get. It compelled me to become as kind as I can be today. That said, whether in politics, the grocery store, my neighborhood, I always look forward to see well meaning people around. We all miss the mark, but aim to be well-meaning today.

I remember living on 18th & Vine in KCMO, waking up to drums, barbecues, block parties, on Juneteenth as a kid. Didnt know why til adulthood. Glad the world is seeing more of black culture in this painful time. (Marching Cobras, 2017)

I grew up shaped by gang culture. To me The Crips were civil rights leaders just like the Black Panthers, just like SNIC. Throwing up gang signs of solidarity was very related to throwing up a fist. I like how the brought so many black worlds together.
