In the early 20th century radical progressives realized they didn’t need to take control of every sector of American life to control the future. They only need to take control of one. Education.

Under the leadership of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic School in Greenville, SC, embraced a classical curriculum model 3 years ago. Enrollment has gone from 130 students to 270. This movement is on fire!

Some folks want to simplify things and blame the left for the crisis in mainstream education. The sad truth, however, is that Jeb Bush and other “conservatives” are equally responsible for championing the poisonous Common Core Standards.

Great essay from , which fills me with hope for the future of Catholic education. I'm proud to serve on the board of advisors and help Jeremy and his team share the gospel (literally and figuratively) of classical Catholic ed.

Some of the most brilliant minds in classical education got together to imagine a K-12 school. What did they do? They doubled recess time, brought in animals, planted an amazing garden, and doubled down on art! PS: Yes, this is the Saint Constantine school in Houston.

At this point in history, we have no excuse to squander our children's childhood years with an education where Truth is rejected, Beauty is lost, & Goodness is absent. A nation under God must love Wisdom & cultivate Virtue. Secular-progressivism cannot provide a joy-filled life.

The main reason that classical schools are thriving in the current environment is that parents aren’t interested in enrolling their children in grand social experiments. My latest! firstthings.com/web-exclusives

Penmanship matters because beauty matters. Not only is it great for fine motor skills, it also teaches students to communicate with eloquence and detail.

I agree with some of what you're saying but I don't know if "likewise" is really the correct word to use here... Also, can you explain why penmanship is important? I assume that you're talking about more than just handwriting but am I wrong?

If you remove the peanut butter, jelly, and the bread, you can’t call it a PBJ. Likewise if you remove civics, logic, grammar, rhetoric, penmanship, classical languages, religion, and philosophy, you can’t call it “education”. But this is exactly mainstream education has done.

Conservatives are waking up and starting to realize that classical education is not a little niche movement on the side. At the end of the day there are two kinds of education: progressive and classical. Time to reverse the March through the institutions.

Been in the trenches of classical education in Milwaukee for over 10 years and Tate is 100% correct. The classical schools here have substantial waiting lists. The interest is sky high. Parents are enthusiastically knocking on the doors.
