In the early 20th century radical progressives realized they didn’t need to take control of every sector of American life to control the future. They only need to take control of one. Education.

People ask me: “why did you leave public Classical schools to work for a private Catholic school?” My answer: I never felt I was free to say to my students: “God loves you.” Now I can share with them the whole truth. #ClassicalEd

Most of the the curriculum is built from materials. Then we supplement with other authors and texts from the Catholic intellectual tradition.

Some folks want to simplify things and blame the left for the crisis in mainstream education. The sad truth, however, is that Jeb Bush and other “conservatives” are equally responsible for championing the poisonous Common Core Standards.

Great essay from , which fills me with hope for the future of Catholic education. I'm proud to serve on the board of advisors and help Jeremy and his team share the gospel (literally and figuratively) of classical Catholic ed.

Some of the most brilliant minds in classical education got together to imagine a K-12 school. What did they do?
They doubled recess time, brought in animals, planted an amazing garden, and doubled down on art!
PS: Yes, this is the Saint Constantine school in Houston.

At this point in history, we have no excuse to squander our children's childhood years with an education where Truth is rejected, Beauty is lost, & Goodness is absent.
A nation under God must love Wisdom & cultivate Virtue. Secular-progressivism cannot provide a joy-filled life.

Penmanship matters because beauty matters. Not only is it great for fine motor skills, it also teaches students to communicate with eloquence and detail.

I agree with some of what you're saying but I don't know if "likewise" is really the correct word to use here... Also, can you explain why penmanship is important? I assume that you're talking about more than just handwriting but am I wrong?

We cannot allow those who threaten violence to have veto power over our public institutions. It's time to set a new standard for open discourse. I commend faculty and students, especially, for demonstrating that commitment today. Great discussion and lots of common ground.

While I share the desire to make all feel welcome at Church, I firmly reject the idea that truth is inherently “unwelcoming” “exclusivist” & “mean.”
That lie is used by the world to label everyone who disagrees with today’s secular dogmas, especially around sex as, “cruel.”

An education monopoly requires these four -
- Control of standardized testing
- Control of school accreditation
- Control of teacher certification
- Control of public funds
dealt a blow to the first. We are working with other leaders to take care of the other three.

If you remove the peanut butter, jelly, and the bread, you can’t call it a PBJ.
Likewise if you remove civics, logic, grammar, rhetoric, penmanship, classical languages, religion, and philosophy, you can’t call it “education”.
But this is exactly mainstream education has done.

Yes. As a Catholic, there are four female Doctors of the Church. Saint Augustine was from Africa. Flannery O’Connor was the most insightful Christian novelist of the 20th century. Their race or gender is NOT the reason for their inclusion, the merit of their work is the reason. twitter.com/GaryNuschler/s

Conservatives are waking up and starting to realize that classical education is not a little niche movement on the side.
At the end of the day there are two kinds of education: progressive and classical. Time to reverse the March through the institutions.

Classical education is not a niche movement for families who like old books.
It is simply a return to authentic education.

Been in the trenches of classical education in Milwaukee for over 10 years and Tate is 100% correct. The classical schools here have substantial waiting lists. The interest is sky high. Parents are enthusiastically knocking on the doors.
