Will helmets be required? I saw two guys riding them helmetless down the middle of a lane on Belmont Blvd last night and it seemed like a really dangerous scenario, especially with drivers not used to seeing them.

Tennessee only requires a bicycle helmet for those under 16, although I’ve heard several preliminary things from Bird that will encourage their users to wear a helmet. https://www.tn.gov/tdot/multimodal-transportation-resources/bicycle-and-pedestrian-program/tennesse-bicycle-laws.html …

i've only heard horror stories about these things from SF, mainly a ton of safety issues

It’ll take several weeks to get something through council, so plenty of time to talk about any possible issues.

They aren’t supposed to be left on public spaces, which is something being worked out along with fees to the city.

Ha. If they stay this popular or even more so, it’ll be a lot more cars off the road in high traffic areas.
