It seems like a long time ago that I mused about Aaron Bastani's academic credentials. I now know the answer to this question.https://twitter.com/JeremyDuns/status/1076488686185971712 …

Perhaps ask Mr. Duns why he lives in a Paradise Papers tax haven. You’ve shared your PHD let’s ask Jeremy for his tax return. There’s usually a reason that socialism is attacked. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=aland+islands+tax+haven&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-gb&client=safari …

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha It's wonderful how wrong you've got this, and the google search bar just tops it.
-
Worth a try

-
Maybe reflect on what that says about your mindset here, Sean, that you were so desperate to undermine my points that, instead of trying to refute them, you thought to Google that, do no research at all into it, and then tweet it?
-
I just see the left being attacked constantly - take Global Media for example £100s Millions Tax Avoidance - explains their general slant. We’ve had enough. .pic.twitter.com/K9on4UWkGs
-
So... if someone on the left is, as you see it, attacked, anything to get back is fine? That's the same tactics, Sean.
-
Why don’t you save your efforts for issues like why a BBC Panorama would be part of faking a chemical attack. Could even make a good novel I imagine. https://twitter.com/shinnerpreside1/status/1076228889586925569?s=21 …

It seems very odd that his PhD was passed 'with no corrections requested'. I've examined many PhDs, some quite excellent, but have never known one to be passed without any corrections being required. Even the best work has imperfections, which qualified examiners will spot.
-
Maybe it was very good. Have you read it?
-
Yeah. It's not good.
-
Not what his assessors thought.......
-
He concealed a lot of information from his examiners......
-
If they were examiners they would have uncovered this info themselves.......
-
Sometimes things get past people, arguing that his PhD can't be dodgy because he has a PhD is a circuitous argument that makes you sound a bit silly..............
-
Rarely do things get past 3 experts in the field. You've just made that argument up, making yourself look a bit silly. He competed his PhD, deal with it. Go shout at some pigeons or whatever.....

Sorry. I don’t like Bastani, but this critique is weak, and shows limited understanding of the process. It is almost an attack on the reviewers.
-
I'm fascinated you think this tweet simply saying 'you're wrong' but with no actual points would persuade me or anyone else, Alex. Did it even persuade you?
-
Which I find hard to believe, and also you don’t really have evidence of. Also, failing to cite something, beyond direct plagiarism... I don’t know. It’s not an academic piece, it’s hardly critical to the thesis
-
A) Because he concealed it. B) Sometimes people miss things. C) Trying to dismiss all of the points because I didn't find plagiarism.... I don't know either, mate. Bye now.
-
You don’t conclusively know he concealed it unless you have the minutes of the viva, and I can’t imagine a scenario where this wasn’t discussed
-
I present all the evidence for him concealing it in his thesis in the article. Muting you now.
-
Way to be as thin skinned as he is.
