Everything I’ve seen about The Ringer sale has included “the website”, so that seems good (right?) Either way, really pulling for all the writers, editors, producers and staff over there. Really hope it’s a new and exciting door that’s opening, not...something else.

...the point being: If TWENTY YEARS LATER, it's still on *grad students* to "fill in the blanks" with actual stuff you need to know to be productive, maybe someone should, like, think about changing undergraduate CS curricula? I love my ivory tower as much as anyone, but sheesh.

...I was just mentioning this to a coworker recently. Back in 1999 at UCD, some enterprising grad students got fed up with the curriculum, and made a "Here's what you *should* have been taught" special topics class. It was CVS and Perl back then, but literally the same idea.

...sadly, the D.R.A.F.T. initiative has basically been swallowed by ESPN's current CMS. Bummer. It also happened 11 years ago. Sigh. I'm like 20 years older than I was back then...somehow @tomhaberstroh is the same age.

...there's an interesting project here, doing this "correctly", accounting for only WS (or whatever else) for when a player was on the specific team and normalizing by draft capitol expended. Yes, basically, I miss the D.R.A.F.T. initiative, and can't let it go.
