A growing number of researchers are looking into the gut microbiome’s role in drug metabolism. A whole variety of drugs could be altering the balance of bacterial species, disrupting the digestive system or causing other problems.

Did you know that if you go anti-vax hard enough, sometimes you circle all the way back to inventing vaccines?

A highly controlled experiment on how human microbiotas (transplanted into mice) recover after antibiotic perturbation. Mostly, the microbiotas rapidly returned to their initial composition. But not if mice consumed a low-fiber diet...

Delighted this is finally out! S. aureus becomes antibiotic tolerant in macrophages due to production of ROS inducing metabolic shutdown. Congrats to @RoweSarahrowe83, Nikki Wagner, , and everyone else who contributed.

The gut microbial metabolite TMAO became famous after studies linked it with cardiovascular disease. But it's also implicated in a different area: This group found a receptor for TMAO (in mice) and traced a path to high blood sugar / metabolic dysfunction:

Nice review article on resistant starch. Different types (and subtypes) of RS cause different effects, which are further complicated by inter-individual differences in microbiome composition.
