I think the "I can't wait to get back to normal" thing speaks to how we, as Americans, are crap at dealing with loss, grief and mourning. We're terrible at sitting with uncomfortable feelings. Of course, we just want to pretend that life altering change hasn't happened.

But it has folks. It has. And there ain't no going back. Prepare for 2021 to look a lot like 2020. Make peace with the truth that post-Covid life won't look exactly like pre-Covid life. You'll have a bit less stress and disappointment if you do.

The number of people who've died during the last 9 months is like a real life Thanos snap. There's no going back from that. The lives who lost loved ones will never be the same. And honestly, I don't want to go back being jam-packed into any space w/folks breathing on me.

This is very true. Even with the vaccine, masks and social distancing will still be a thing. And even with the vaccine, I’m not going to be thrilled to be smushed in with people again to be honest.
