Not that cats are capable of this degree of higher thought, but if they WERE, a cat would never ask “is this action something a REAL cat would do?” They would simply know “I am a real cat and I am doing this action, therefore it IS something a real cat would do”

This is true. The concept of cat is reflectively defined - e.g. a cat is any of these creatures - thus every cat matches the definition 100%. There is no theoretical definition of cat in the way we can define a basketball, and then argue if the smaller skill balls count as one.
