Pentagon officials: Gen Milley did not try to insert himself in the chain of command regarding the launch of nuclear weapons, but he made sure everyone knew what their roles were and what they weren’t. They reviewed lawful launch procedures following Pelosi phone call.

I am told that Gen Milley had 2 routine calls with his Chinese counterpart and more than a dozen calls with NATO allies after Jan 6 to reassure them the US government was stable and to reassure China that the US did not plan a surprise attack, an effort to avoid misunderstanding.

Are you seriously suggesting that anyone without a serious brain injury would believe this?
And BTW if it were true, wouldn't that be pretty damned scandalous too?

Did you check with your sources about whether the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff should be even having phone calls with the Speaker of the House about circumventing the nuclear chain-of-command?

Stopping Trump from a 1st strike required disobeying an order. 'Someone in the chain would say no,' a fmr sr DoD official assured me in 2017. 'That's what I believe, having worked with these guys'—from Mattis on down. Milley was prepared to do that.

This is Woodward’s book. He’s never had to retract anything since he started reporting on Nixon. Trump went insane - and he didn’t have far to go. It is horrifying

He didn’t spill secrets. He didn’t even tell them the truth - which is that he thought Trump had lost his marbles. He reassured the Chinese that they wouldn’t be attacked in a desperate effort by Trump to stay in power snd that USA was fine. We’re we fine? Fuck, no.
