Not a chord - you've tapped into a huge current of disappointment. We're sick and tired of the "balanced" reporting! I can't stand CNN now - I used to watch it every day! The pundit panels r designed to drive the viewers into a frenzy w/o any meaningful conclusion. 1/

The simple truth is what HRC did (emails) was never the issue - *she* was the GOP issue. Look at Ivanka and Jared using non-gov emails and backing their emails on a Trump Co servers. Trump foundation is a sham. Trump gave Lavrov highly classified info in the Oval Office... 2/

Where is the "balanced" reporting of any of that? Nowhere. I appreciate that finally there's at least one person who starts to see the true damage done to the public trust in MSM. Please keep digging. Keep thinking & talking about it. We need facts more than pundit opinions. 3/3

Minorities and women will pay the price for 2016’s abysmal coverage over the next few decades, in the form of hostile court rulings.
-
Every time we get a nasty 5-4 ruling that dehumanizes a targeted group or enables some travesty of civil rights, I hope that reporters know that they helped to make it possible.
-
That stolen SCOTUS appt. must be undone. If America survives this, a new Congress has to undo Trump’s and the GOP’s damage to its institutions. That includes asking Gorsuch to step down and forcing him out through a Constitutional amendment if he doesn’t.

Thrilled that you realize you and others are part of the problem that got us here, but while apology is appreciated, its just not enough. You can’t stop there. We need to know how you and others are going to keep it from continuing/happening again.
-
I haven't seen any evidence that they are even trying.
-
I don’t think they’re even thinking about it. That’s why I made the point. It’s one thing to realize you messed up and apologize—but it can’t stop there. Not when we’re staring down the barrel of a constitutional crisis, and possibly worse. We need proactive media for a change.
-
Stop and think about who owns the media. They got their tax cuts. They don't care about the rest.
-
While I’m sure that’s true of, say, Jeff Zucker, I’d like to think that individual reporters and commentators are neither so cynical nor jaded, but I could be wrong. Also, this is why we need to support independent media with $ and by helping them get the word out.
-
Individual reporters and commentators do not own media outlets; they are employees of the big corporations who do, and therefore subject to their instructions. I'm beginning to realize that this could explain a lot of reporting during the campaign and since.
-
I get that, but individuals still have consciences, and can band together to influence their employers. And if news outlets aren’t interested in actual truth anymore, they should be speaking out about that, too. It’s their duty as journalists to do so, and I believe most would.

You may say that belied is naive, and in some cases it probably is, but listen to
@KatyTurNBC on@PreetBharara ’s podcast for some background on how things are on the inside. And also read this@nytimes piece. Some are complicit. Some are not.https://www.nytimes.com/2017/04/04/magazine/cnn-had-a-problem-donald-trump-solved-it.html … - 4 more replies

Good journalism should not be about playing a "feel good" game of false equivalence out of a mistaken sense of wanting fair play and a level playing field. Good journalism is about getting the truth out there. I admire Mr. Toobin's willingness to admit to an error.

You should regret it. You had a hand in destroying democracy as we knew it. It nice for you that you’ve found the time to self reflect, I wonder if America will survive? This same sentiment goes out to EVERYONE in media, especially
@maggieNYT -
And Chuck Todd. And Chris Cillizza.
