Naomi played better, kept her composure under heavy duress, and earned it. No one made Serena slam her racquet. Time to pull back from the drama.

Bravo Serena for saying that there is a double standard between men's and women's tennis when it comes to language used in disputing a call with the umpire. Coaching between sets should be allowed. Boxers do it, golfers confer with caddy, NASCAR, WWF, UFC,why not tennis?

I agree a male player would very likely not have been penalized as Serena was. That is sexist and unfair. But the solution is not to allow women to berate the umpire to a greater degree but to enforce and increase penalties for such behavior in equal measure for both genders.

Sorry, first time disagree to you. @serenawilliams should be DQed on court by saying those disrespectful words and by the way she said it. I don't think she would be proud to show her daughter this clip when she grows up.

Toobin is carelessly using the word RACISM to label people he disagrees with. He knows the power of this allegation & how the label can destroy people. How is he different than Sen. McCarthy in the 50’s wrongly labeling innocent people as Communists?pic.twitter.com/Z1rsGRhXDb

Mr. Toobin, I read and listen to just about everything you’ve written and broadcast. And I’m amused by this tweet. But I have to admit that I don’t understand exactly what you’re trying to say!

Wow, tennis, the one sport where I thought fans showed sportsmanship & applauded underdogs was still alive , died today. Sad.

Serena is a drama queen. It always has to be about her. And when she plays like crap she takes it out on the umps. This time it cost her. And it wasn't fair to Osaka.

America is free and great again. Serene, however, is a whiny baby’s every time she loses. She was soundly outplayed. She was overhitting to compensate and made many unforced errors. I feel badly for Osaka. #aerenahasnoclass
