And then who don’t want to serve black customers or female customers or old customers, or Spanish speaking customers or ... This is not America. This is not democracy.

No worries,
@JeffreyToobin. According to@NinaTotenberg, this was a narrow (in scope, presumably) decision. -
(1) It won’t be interpreted as narrow when other courts attempt to apply the ruling and it will certainly be used as a sword by anti-gay groups. Gorsuch and the majority manufactured a procedural unfairness, state animus toward Christianity issue where none existed.
-
RE: "state animus toward Christianity issue where none existed," did you read (as in, for comprehension) Kennedy's dressing down of the CO commission?pic.twitter.com/r8wWrVeail
-
Yes I read entire opinion. The commission said “religion and freedom of religion” has been used in the past to justify slavery. That’s a historical fact. They did not single out a particular religion. And it was one stray remark at one step of a multi-layered procedure.
-
They also called the plaintiff's appeal to religious freedom “one of the most despicable pieces of rhetoric that people can use." Please. Does that sound like a historical fact? I wouldn't answer that one way or another if I were you.
-
The different outcomes in Colorado between the different baker cases do not evidence any hostility to religion. Craig and Mullins wanted a simple wedding cake and were denied because they are gay. The other bakers refused to publish hate speech on a cake. Not the same.
-
The commission made them equivalent by strongly inferring that *not* making the cake was hateful ("despicable"). This will all get sorted out when a photographer who refuses to "self-express" for 4-12 hours in close personal contact with the client gets brought up on charges.

You need to understand the difference between civil rights law and First Am jurisprudence.

They need to post their desire to discriminate status on their front doors, so we will know who to avoid.
-
You got it. Bring on the boycotts. Put ‘em out of business.
-
There’s no need to boycott. The gay community have some options. 1. There are bakers who are gay and would love to serve your community. Here’s another solution 2. train more gay people to be bakers. Or 3. Go to Walmart.

And they're only spiting themselves, losing good business and money. I'm not gay, but if I am aware that someone is doing this -- not serving gay customers or customers of another race -- my business goes elsewhere.

You are misleading - obviously on purpose since you are a progressive with an agenda - saying this case had to do with "serve[ing] gay customers." The baker would serve them all day long - he just would not make them a celebration cake for their gay wedding!

Silver lining - I might be interested to find out about businesses that discriminate on any basis...that way I don't have to contribute to their income...

Sadly the Colorado cake case is example of the breaking of the norm of "forbearance." Yes, civil libertarians had the right bring the case, but they shouldn't have. We now have bad law that may do real harm to civil rights.
-
Curious how forbearance applies in the face of emerging authoritarianism and eroding checks and balances.

My religion teaches me to "love thy neighbor". So, if you are a
#Republican politician or you voted for one, who cut food stamps to give more to the wealthiest at the expense of those with the least, I don't have to provide my services to you.@GOPpic.twitter.com/aJ4QNNK6uN -
Cool. We don’t want your “services”
