The problem is not the racial bias shown by police who treat disruptive White people with persistence and patience. The problem is the racial bias shown by police who treat disruptive and even peaceful Black and Brown people with aggressive and violent suppression.

Yep. That level of restraint should be the norm for everyone.

I cannot forget the elderly man who was just walking along and was just punched to the ground and then a whole serial of officers just walked by him. He had done nothing wrong. He had a fractured skull. Bastards.

That's privilege vs. discrimination. Different sides of the same coin.

No, they should arrest the people who stormed the Capital.

I think this is the right take in 99% of cases. But today, this is different. This is a militia, not a protest. The right thing, the moral thing, was to meet them with force at choke points, before they broke through. https://twitter.com/griotspeak/status/1346900662416596993 …

I think both are a problem? These people were disruptive enough that far too much patience was clearly shown to them, and you're making something of a false comparison with the insufficient patience shown in response to peaceful and to far-less-disruptive Black and Brown people.

No, it's also police who fail to arrest white people who are trespassing on and destroying federal property. Equality under the law also includes decisions not to arrest and prosecute criminal behavior. The recipients are literally privileged to commit crimes.

And the refusal by those in the highest positions of power, especially Dems, to condemn this disparity and pledge to solve it with real action.

@rhylanrowe do you really think painting with a broad brush like this is helpful?

When it comes to law enforcement, yes, the broad brush absolutely fits.
