Jeff, I understand the concerns, but there are so many people who don't have photo IDs. If we're doing this, what are we doing to assure everyone has access - money + rides- to an ID? I live in a very poor county. That $10 fee for ID is groceries for some.

DMV offers a "No-Fee ID" for non-drivers. You must be registered to vote, or you can register to vote when you go there to get the ID. In TX, DMV required first-maiden-last. When moved, I used TX license as ID so my NC driver's license is same. Voter reg. says first-middle initial-last. So they don't agree. Guess I'll have to take birth cert, marriage cert., driver's license, & voter card to vote. Happens in TX

Just so you know, those other things might jot be considered "acceptable ID". Also, there's no voter ID requirement, yet. They're putting a constitutional amendment on the ballot for November 2018. The amendment would add a photo ID requirement to the state constitution.
