I agree with all your points Congressman. However, abdicating Congress’s appropriations authority sets a poor precedent for future emergency declarations such as gun violence and healthcare and climate change.

Secondly, the situation is no more dire than it was two years ago when he took office. So the premise that this is an immediate crisis that needs to bypass the constitutional authority of Congress does not hold water.
