One of those two won an election.

Giving McSally this seat just invalidated the November election. She lost. Surely there were other Republicans in Arizona that could have been appointed to this seat. GOP exploited a loophole and got their nominee in the Senate even though the people rejected her.

McSally has no business being there. Generally when you lose the election you don’t get the seat anyways.

Except for that whole 17 Amendment of the Constitution...of The United States of America..

If a vacancy occurs due to a senator's death, resignation, or expulsion, the Seventeenth Amendment allows state legislatures to empower the governor to appoint a replacement

Remember when the voters in your state rejected McSally? It was like 2 months ago.

Interesting point: One of these senators wasn't elected by the people and fills a seat of a man people loved and respected. The other was elected by the people and replaces a man who was a spineless coward. OK, maybe not that interesting, but true nonetheless.

No, McSally will represent herself, or her big donors, not the people of Arizona. She will be unreachable, a supporter of the Trump family, and ignore her constituents, just as she did in the CD2 seat. And that’s why she wasn’t elected.

McSally was not elected by the people though. Republicans way of cheating to get what they want.
-
That's why she was appointed by the governor, which he is well within his rights to do? Did you have a similar issue with Blago in Illinois?
-
I'd prefer a Democrat, but McSally is objectively the fairest choice. 47.6% voted for her. Proportional representation, accidental or not, should be cheered
-
Regardless, to say the Republicans "cheated" is ignorant at best.
-
Agreed that's nonsense
-
@HenrikRummel &@KevinJRea1990 , you're right, cheated was not the right word to use here although recently republicans seem to have a hard time following the rule of law. Having someone who lost get the seat is sort of a slap in the face to the person who won. But my apologies. -
How is it a slap in the face? He had to make an appointment, he chose someone he is legally allowed to. Are you making up some rule now that it's not your bull being gored that you can't be appointed to a similar office you were elected to?
-
It's 2 different seats lady.
