I'm super impressed with how much hard work goes into an article like this. Every month or two, I'd get contacted by a distant former colleague or college friend saying "A reporter named James wants to talk to me about you. Is that okay?". (cont)

Plus lots of attention to detail. A couple weeks ago, I had a multi hour video meeting with a separate person from the
@NewYorker to do fact checking of hundreds of details ("Did your office, in 2001, overlook a small pond with ducks?") Nice work,@jsomers!Prikaži ovu nit -
And through this, I realize how lucky I am to have such an amazing colleague as Sanjay: we've worked closely together for more than 20 years, I've learned so much from him, and I look forward to working together for many more years.

Showed the article to my mom (not a tech person) who said, "very very nicely written. Their friendship and style is so heartwarming. They should make a movie about them."

Love it. “You need to find someone that you’re gonna pair-program with who’s compatible with your way of thinking, so that the two of you together are a complementary force,” Jeff said.

Super awesome that you elucidated how the interview process worked from your perspective! I’ve always been curious how profiles like this get made.

Great article and of course the most important fact is that the great pair are emacs people!

This is a wonderfully insightful piece. Sanjay and Jeff's friendship/collaboration is reminiscent of Tversky and Kahneman's, nicely described by Michael Lewis in "The Undoing Project" – except this one seems blissfully frictionless and T/K's was painfully fraught.
