    The team built an Earth-sized telescope by linking radio dishes around the world. In April 2017, all they all swiveled to look at the supermassive black hole at the center of Messier 87, a galaxy in Virgo constellation.

  21. So once we have both (improved) results, we compare them for two very different black holes and see what we find. The six papers that the collaboration has already released have exquisitely (read more precisely) pinned down a black hole mass for M87.
