It's not a false dichotomy because I didn't say those were the only options. It's rhetoric. The point is that effectiveness is one metric to consider but not the only one. Risks and costs must also be considered. Placebos make people feel better with little risk.
Drinking kool aid is cheaper AND less risky than procedures. It doesn’t mean that it works for the ailment.
Yep it's a trade-off. The costs benefits and risks all need to be considered.
NSAIDS blunt the bodies adaptation to physical stress so if you train there are generally a bad idea.
