Amazing, as is the fact that there are three *four-year-olds* and twenty five hundred-year-old people on the “can’t fly under any circumstances, no matter how much we search you” list

On this No-Fly list leak: as with most leaked law enforcement docs, main takeaway is it confirms what impacted folks & advocates have been saying & seeing all along. E.g: "More than 10% of the entries on the No-Fly list ... contain “MUHAMMAD." papersplease.org/wp/2023/01/20/

If you too are enraged by this cruel and heartless statement by saying that he "stopped thinking" about the hundreds of thousands of Americans who have died from #COVID19, please contact him and let him and his administration know. whitehouse.gov/contact/

BIDEN: “And I think we — I sometimes underestimate it because I stopped thinking about it, but I’m sure you don’t: We lost 1 — over 1 million people in several years to COVID.” We lost almost 700,000 people to covid since Biden took office two years ago. whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/

“The need for — I mean, look at what’s happened. And I think we — I sometimes underestimate it because I stopped thinking about it, but I’m sure you don’t: We lost 1 — over 1 million people in several years to COVID.

What that means is — and the study was done that there are eight people close to every one of those — on average — those 1 million people. How many mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, uncle, aunts, got up in the morning or sat down for dinner at night and there was an empty chair? How many? And what impact does that have on the rest of the family?”

Whatever we learn next, please be clear you can’t understand places like Monterey Park without Asian American Studies research the mainstream generally ignored for years. Tim Fong wrote this book 29 years ago. tupress.temple.edu/books/the-firs

Here’s a BBC report of the mass shooting in Monterey Park near Lunar New Year festival site because over 3 hours after the incident, I could not find any national news reports from major U.S. print or broadcast media. (LA Times has headline coverage.) bbc.com/news/world-us-

I've had an idea for an online Black Studies series for a while. This Florida nonsense seems like it might be time to explore it for real. Anybody got ideas for how to make it actually happen?

"Martin Luther King was a Lawbreaker" Last April, and shared a pamphlet of a 1970 essay by anarchist political prisoner Martin Sostre on distortions of MLK's legacy. Check it out—wise words from an important ancestor.

Movie poster for 'The Rebellious Life of Mrs. Rosa Park' displaying Rosa Parks against a backdrop of roses with images from the Civil Rights Era poking through.

The whitewashing of the history MLK and other civil rights leaders and activists is atrocious. I won't even say how old I was before I learned that Rosa Parks didnt just spontaneously decide to not give up her seat on that bus.....🤦🏾‍♀️

I remember my daughter (a Black activist) once saying, “They tell us to be more like MLK; what they don’t realize is we are exactly like MLK.”

Lots of people constantly call on young activists, particularly BLM, to be like Martin Luther King. They have no idea what they're really calling for. Five ways to actually BE like Martin Luther King on what would have been his 94th birthday.

5. Make clear racism is not just a Southern sickness but a national cancer: “As the nation, Negro and white, trembled with outrage at police brutality in the South," King highlighted, "police misconduct in the North was rationalized, tolerated, and usually denied.”

3.Reframe the issue from Black behavior to white illegality: "When we ask Negroes to abide by the law, let us also demand that the white man abide by law in the ghettos. Day-in and day-out…he flagrantly violates building codes and regulations; his police make a mockery of law."

2. Insist allies walk the walk. “We do not need allies who are more devoted to order than to justice" King made clear the need for disruptive protest. "If our direct action programs alienate so-called friends … they never were really our friends.”

1. Make clear that there "can be no compromise" around police brutality. King understood that the problem of policing in the US was not simply some bad apples. Rather the police and the courts act "as enforcers" in Northern ghettos in a system of "internal colonialism."

I dug into the tax returns and financial statements of Mount Sinai and Montefiore. Montefiore's giving their executives chauffeurs and first class airfare, Mount Sinai gave their CEO 12.5 percent annualized raises over the last decade.
