Yes, the overworked and underpaid sentiment is definitely true for scientists. And for teachers. And for administrators. And for journalists. And so on. But I'm not seeing how this context has to imply superiority to other professional roles.

Well, I think I identified a shared nerve on the twitters today. Thanks for the abundace supportive messages!! (I should also qualify that this certainly does not apply across the board - there are many who value the efforts - though this feeling is in the air nonetheless)

Somehow, using my scientific training to build a fairly successful science outreach program from almost scratch is often viewed by colleagues as "she couldn't hack it," and while I'm proud of my work, there's a little piece that wishes those around me saw this as valid, too.

Hanging out w Ms B and her students from Lower Manhattan Arts Academy to talk.ethics and applications of DNA technology. Besides showing up in the same outfit, we go way back. She was my husband's former chem student in HS! She's a rockstar teacher, too 🤓🔥

Pizza is great in a kitchen, but would be gross to see in a nursery. Context is always key. No better example exists for me than this smelly microbe. It gives our feet its sweaty smell & also imbues cheeses w/that same mouth-watering aroma. Gross in one context, lovely in another

I’m getting asked this question more and more as people realise that many of their projects involve ongoing collaboration. How do you define what a community manager does?
