The third last paragraph hit the nail on the head. Sadly, many still have a picture of Microsoft under Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer, ignoring its transformation. It will take more time for the company to prove itself, even though it has been doing so for years.

If they really love Open Source, they can prove it overnight: if they Opensource Windows and Office, there you are, otherwise they just use Open Source and contribute to it for their own advantage and interests.

They literally have more open source code sitting on Github than any other company. If being on top is not good enough to the zealots, not sure what else they could possibly do to convince you.

They could have all the open source code in the world, but they don't open source what truly matters, ntfs, exfat, Windows, office, etc.

That's like asking Google to open source their web crawler & tokenizer system, but people would happily give Google a pass for that :P

I never said I trust Google, Apple, Microsoft nor any of them. They all contribute to Open Source when it's convenient for them, otherwise they stop supporting it.
