If genital mutilation is wrong for girls (and I believe it is), why would it be okay for boys?

It's kind of apples and oranges. There's very little downside to male circumcision and it does make hygeine much easier. Foreskins are fairly infection-prone. Clits aren't.

Except it's still genital mutilation being done without the person's consent. And the infections can be avoided with basic hygiene.

And that IS a fair point. It's exactly what I said to my GF. Her, her mother, my mother, my aunt and my grandmother all work in nursing and are all non-religous and are all mothers. Not one of them felt there was a good reason not to circumsize. *shrug*

They acknowledged the idea, but felt it was as unnecessary as the appendix and the risks of keeping it made it, in their eyes, a no-brainer.

And in the spirit of arguments we're sick of: They are not considering the risks of removing it, which include infection, blood loss, botched circumcisions and even death.

Thank you. I will mention this when I next have them together. Thanksgiving will be fun again this year!
