Just to clarify, this man was picked at random and thrown off the plane because the company had over booked the flight??

Yep. He was also a doctor who needed to be on the flight to get to his hospital to treat patients.

@united asked 4 passengers to give up seats bc overbooked. All pass. said no so they picked at random. Heard he is a doctor(?). -
