Diverse staff isn’t simply a “nice-to-have” or a moral good, it also means better decisions bc you have empowered people with a wide range of perspectives to inform outcomes. Thank you Dr. Blain for following this up w/ the immense talent there is to be found across the country.https://twitter.com/KeishaBlain/status/1078640731940626432 …

Because if the 12 top experts are black but you leave them out so you can include 3 Latinos, 2 Asians, 4 lesbians, a couple of gays and a transvestite or two then you... Sacrificed talent for diversity.
-
The fact that you said black is disengenious. Because you know for a fact the there wouldn't be all 12 being black even if they were the tops. The assumption always is that all 12 white guys who got hired must have been the top but add color it must be a diversity hire
-
Thanks for admitting that point was valid. And I'm sorry for choosing what you feel to be the wrong race to represent "most qualified experts"
-
The point isn't valid. You said black as to relate to me "by flipping the race" and think I would say differently, not realistic. White supremacy has you thinking if 12 white guys got hired they must have been the best. As if no diverse candidate could have been equal or better
-
Nope. Point was extremely valid. You couldn't prove it wrong so you played the race card. But keep playing. It might work on someone out there
-
LMAOOOOO this man thinks it's a card. If it was a card I could give back I gladly hand it over. There was no point. Just because you can't comprehend doesn't mean I didnt dispute. You don't understand me therefore you stand under me. Logic tends to reach those with brains
-
The solution is simple. Start a business and hire who you feel would best represent that business. If you’re right, you’ll see it in the results.
-
That is true but you should also represent who you are selling to. Having a team of men decide on women's products is poor business. Having a bunch of white dudes try and cater to the black community . The society we sell too is mixed maybe the people selling to them should b too

Idk anybody that thinks that.
-
This whole thread is full of people who think a diverse hire automatically means you aren't getting the best or can't be the best. You can open up talent pools to be diverse and still get premium. The issue is most place hiring pick cards from only one deck
-
Not necessarily. If diversity is the primary consideration (and there's no reason to think otherwise, based on the original Cortez tweet) one is free to presume the field can and will be intentionally narrowed to fit that scope.
-
But prioritizing "Diversity" no mater how you would define it, will EXPAND the pool of people you are drawing from, not narrow it. It is that simple.
-
Not if one prioritizes out a lack of diversity, whatever that means. Folks with Downs add to diversity, too.
-
This is what I mean. You guys are being disengenious and jump to extremes rather than logical discussion. you are fishing from the same pond and always catching the same fish instead of fishing in an ocean . Nobody is prioritizing diversity over talent. You can have both
-
Quotas put diversity ahead of talent. Look up Harvard and Asians. California just passed a law forcing large companies to put women on their boards. So, you’re wrong.
-
Oh no women on the board. Again you are assuming you can't find quality in quotas. The quotas are there to make sure that you look because before they weren't even looking and claiming there was none and thus what they found was the best. Plenty of talented women if you look

I’ll tell you exactly why. Because when a white owned company like mine is blocked from bidding, the buyer has to select from non-white no matter the level of talent or lack thereof. If you don’t understand, google MBE/WBE. My guess is you’ll learn something.
-
the fact that you think going to a diverse talent pool means could possibly only mean "no matter the level of talent or lack thereof" is your problem . The fact you don't see the possibility of highly qualified is your issue . You could get a genius or idiot same as a white pool
-
I never said that. Also, why would white be the pool? Most jobs I worked at had mainly minority employees, more white people would have led to more “diversity.” Either way, how about we have diversity of thoughts and methods, not something you’re born into?
-
You started out with no matter the talent or lack thereof , you make it sound like a forced choice and that the pool they are going for is going to yield poor result versus maybe opening up a sea of potential good and bad. Where you are born yield different thoughts and methods
-
You don’t seem to know much about business. MBE/WBE is a forced choice sir.
