The Democrats need to realize that the US is, and always has been, a center-right country. Clinton and Obama both ran as pragmatic, result-oriented candidate rather than ideologues. Running as a left-wing candidate is a guaranteed loss.https://twitter.com/daveweigel/status/1222161791087710208 …

Everyone will dunk on @jonathanchait for this “Bernie is a risky nominee” piece, but he is right about this: The progressives who tried to prove that they could flip red seats in 2018 got rinsed. http://nymag.com/intelligencer/2020/01/bernie-sanders-electable-trump-2020-nomination-popular-socialism.html … pic.twitter.com/k2vKloPZc0

Yes! And even if a candidate like that manages to cobble together a small electoral college victory, what do down ballot races look like in tough places as a result? I imagine it’s tough to win seats in state legislature in NC, for example, with a top of ticket supporting M4A.

As I remember it, Obama's 2008 campaign was decidedly not based on pragmatism, and he positioned himself to the left of Clinton in the primaries (at least rhetorically).

Who could forget FDR the center right president who won so much and was so popular they had to put term limits in writing?

These are not "center-right" views. America is only center-right to those who are right of center. Full article: https://news.gallup.com/opinion/polling-matters/269717/presidential-campaign-policy-issues-public.aspx …pic.twitter.com/ZVCLok4qho
